The News you never expect

lynn_stafford Today is a sad day. Late night I saw in the news a picture which made me jump. My ESL teacher picture was there: What’s going on? Hold on – I put my hand on my wife’s who started to make channel surfing. I couldn’t believe it!: Lynn Stafford-Yilmaz has been disappeared! The Seattle police found her car into the ferry and her purse and keys on a table close to the ferry’s cafeteria. And nobody knows what could happened, maybe a suicide, maybe she was kidnapped, the police is working on that.

Lynn was my ESL teacher when I just arrive to the US from Spain. She taught me for a year not only to refresh my rusty English but to make friends, improving my relationships skills, and also she introduced me to the Bellevue Community College, where I had some experiences as well very interesting.

But what I will never forget is the opportunity she gave me to get involved in my community. I thought then that a good idea to improve my English and get a better integration in the US society was to volunteer somewhere. I asked her about that and she encouraged me to volunteer in a Elementary School as a teacher assistant. I will never never never forget that beautiful year, where I share my time with the kids, even her own sweet kids.

I honestly hope she is well wherever she can be. Lynn if you read this, just let you know I’ll never forget. Thank you.

Some thoughts before holidays

Pretty busy these days. You know, another blog running (maybe I can start a new blog daily instead of new posts ha!). Also I installed new plugins on Mi Cienaga such as preview comments feature, post ratings (this is cool, I hope it will help me to focus on specific subjects) and other cool things as lightview (a plugin that allows you to see pictures overlapped to the actual screen – it’s similar to lightbox, but more powerful… I had to pay for that!).

Some days ago USlive had a comment which made me think (a little bit). It was related to the garage sales and the guest was impressed about why in Spain we don’t have that amazing custom. I say, what about Spain for Americans? Which part of Spain might be more friendly for the American way of life? For instance I am sure that Seattle is a friendly area for Spaniards because most of people know where Spain is (and that helps to keep our Spanish pride in a very good shape). Also people are open-mind with democrat views where most of Spaniards feel comfortable.

That’s an interesting question. I should write something about that.
